Ford Boosts Maverick & F-150 Raptor R Performance
Ford is taking its popular Maverick compact truck to the next level, blending street-inspired aesthetics with a significant performance boost. Drawing inspiration from the Maverick Lobo, the Ford Custom Garage team has unveiled the Maverick 300T, a SEMA special project that's more than just a showpiece. Many of the performance and style components showcased on the 300T will soon be available for purchase, complete with the peace of mind of a factory warranty.
The heart of this transformation is a potent upgrade to the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. The "300T" moniker directly references the new power output, which climbs from a standard 238 horsepower to an estimated 300 horsepower. Torque also sees a healthy increase, rising to approximately 317 lb-ft. This power gain is achieved through a carefully selected set of components:
- Upgraded Turbocharger: The factory 53mm turbo is replaced with a larger 59mm unit borrowed from the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Mustang.
- Enhanced Cooling: A Mishimoto intercooler is added to provide more effective charge air cooling, maintaining performance under pressure.
- Performance Tuning: A ProCal 4 tune optimizes the engine's parameters to take full advantage of the new hardware.
- Improved Exhaust Flow: A cat-back exhaust system from Borla, finished with stylish black chrome tips, completes the powertrain enhancements.
Ford plans to offer this turbo kit with a 3-year, 36,000-mile Ford Performance Parts warranty, provided it is installed by a Ford dealership or an ASE-certified technician. The kit is specifically engineered for 2025 Maverick AWD models in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims equipped with the 4,000-pound towing package, which includes necessary drivetrain and cooling system upgrades.
Beyond the engine bay, the 300T project truck showcases a comprehensive style and handling package. It sits lower to the ground thanks to a Lobo lowering kit, dropping the front by 0.4 inches and the rear by 1.18 inches. This is complemented by upgraded monotube rear dampers and a more robust anti-roll bar. The aggressive look is enhanced with an Air Design front spoiler, 20-inch Mustang Mach E GT wheels, and various cosmetic touches from Ford Performance and Tufskinz.
Enthusiasts will have the option to purchase the Maverick 300T upgrades as a complete package, available in either black or bronze color themes. While pricing has not yet been announced, both the turbo kit and the full package are expected to be available for order shortly.
Pushing the Raptor R Beyond 900 Horsepower
For those whose tastes lean toward extreme off-road power, Ford Performance also revealed a monumental upgrade for the F-150 Raptor R. While the stock Raptor R is already a formidable machine with 720 horsepower from its 5.2-liter supercharged V-8, the team at Ford decided there was room for more.
The new performance package centers around a massive 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, which Ford claims is the largest ever fitted to one of its factory engines. This upgrade catapults the V-8's output to an astounding 900-plus horsepower. Crucially, this potential upgrade is designed to be CARB legal, ensuring it is compliant with emissions regulations in all 50 states.
Similar to the Maverick kit, this supercharger upgrade will be backed by a 3-year, 36,000-mile Ford Performance parts warranty, contingent on professional installation by a Ford dealer or an ASE-certified technician.
While Ford will not be offering the SEMA show truck as a complete package, enthusiasts can recreate the look and feel by sourcing the individual components. The project vehicle was equipped with a Borla cat-back exhaust, Anderson Composites carbon fiber parts, and a powerful lighting array from Rigid Industries. The truck rides on Method 703 Bead Grip wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires, completing its ultra-aggressive, off-road-ready stance.
